THE JOURNEY BEGINS
A young wealthy child named Sara Stanley is sent to live with her deceased mother's relatives in, Avonlea, a small town on Prince Edward Island after her father is arrested for embezzlement.
THE STORY GIRL EARNS HER NAME
After a con man runs off with the school's library money, Sara asks Jasper Dale, an awkward man, to help her put on a majic lantern show. He does and they make all of the money back. Sara tells an excellent story to go with the pictures and earns her nickname of "the story girl".
PROOF OF THE PUDDING
Janet and Alec leave town to celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary and Hetty goes to Charlottetown over a dispute about the farm's water rights. Meanwhile Felicity is left in charge of the other children. She picks on them and tries to act all grown up. When the governor's wife comes they think it is their deaf old Aunt Eliza and that's just the beginning of their misfortunes. Felix eats poison berries and Felicity gives him homemade medicines and Sara cuts off some of Felicity's hair and dumps pie on her dress. At the end of the episode, however, all of the children become friends.
QUARANTINE AT ALEXANDER ABRAHMS
Sara and Felix sneak into Alexander Abrahms' house not knowing that it is under quarantine. Rachel Lynde also goes to his house to find a farm boy who has been skipping her Sunday School classes. They are then all put under quarantine together. They also manage not to kill each other as all of their personalities conflict.
AUNT ABIGAIL'S BEAU
Janet's sister, Abigail is an old maid who lives alone. Her old beau, Malcolm McEwan, returns to Avonlea and courts her. However, she becomes overwhelmed with his messiness and all the gifts he buys her. When he's about to leave town, Felicity and Sara tell Abigail and she runs off to convince Malcolm to stay in Avonlea with her.
MALCOLM AND THE BABY
After his and Abigail's honeymoon, Malcolm decides that he wants a family. Sara and Felicity find a new orphaned baby boy and leave him on the McEwan's doorstep. Malcolm and Abigail want to keep the baby but so do Hetty and Rachel. In the end the baby stays with the McEwan's.
CONVERSIONS
When a missionary comes to town, Sara decides that the hired help, a boy named Peter, needs to go to church. Peter, however, comes down with influenza. Hetty and Olivia care for him like family and end up treating him that way instead of like hired help. Peter ends up going to school with the other children when he gets better.
WITCH OF AVONLEA
Felix, who is feeling like the "dunce" everyone tells him he is, gets a majic stone from a woman known as the Witch of Avonlea. He believes this stone will help him win the spelling bee and show everyone that he isn't a dunce. He loses the stone and realizes that all he needs to do to win is have confidence in himself. He out does Felicity at the spelling bee.
THE MATERIALIZING OF DUNCAN MCTAVISH
Everyone in the sewing circle in Avonlea makes fun of Marilla Cuthbert for only having one beau, John Blythe, that never amounted to anything. In a rage of anger, Marilla creates a beau for herself name Duncan McTavish. Unfortunately for her a travelling salesman named Duncan McTavish comes to Avonlea. Marilla tells Duncan what is going on and he helps her prove the gossips of Avonlea wrong.
FELICITY'S CHALLENGE
Felicity makes a bet that she can make a girl named Clemmie Ray popular. Meanwhile a politician tries to buy Alec's vote buy selecting Felicity's costume as the best one at the Harvest Ball. Alec does not succumb to the bribary and Clemmie is not popular at the ball, dissapointing Felicity. The children learn that friendship is more important than popularity.
OLD LADY LLOYD
Miss Lloyd is a said to be a rich woman who is living in poverty in her great mansion. She becomes friends with Sara and at the same time Sara becomes friends with a young singer named Sylvia Gray. Miss Lloyd asks the help of her cousin, whom she never speaks to, to help sponser Sylvia's singing career.
THE HOPE CHEST OF ARABELLA KING
Arabella King was dumped at the altar and upon her death the King's open her chest that has been sitting in their house for years. Olivia is working for the newspaper and hopes to make a story out of the hope chest. She hires Jasper Dale as her photographer and they take a liking to each other. Together they solve and old mystery.
NOTHING ENDURES BUT CHANGE
Sara's father, Blair Stanley, has been acquitted of all wrong doings. He comes to Avonlea to take Sara home. Aunt Hetty doesn't want Sara to leave. In despair Sara hides and falls from on top of the barn. Hetty and Blair put a truce to their fighting and Sara ends up staying in Avonlea.
SEASON 2
HOW KISSING WAS DISCOVERED
Aunt Eliza comes to visit the Kings and Alec invites others over to play cricket, which he isn't as good at as he used to be. Felicity has a crush on a cricket player and wants her first real kiss. Sara and Felix befriend a fellow named Gus Pike. Felicity gets her kiss and Janet and Alec announce the expectance of a new baby.
FAMILY RIVALRY
Roger King, the other adult King brother, comes home from Brazil and everyone becomes quite excited as he is the one with the university education. Alec isn't that happy as all he got was the family farm. He is even more disdained when he loans money from the family account to a family friend in need. Alec and Roger's relationship is at a breaking point and Felix and Andrew's relationship is hurt in the process.
AUNT HETTY'S ORDEAL
Muriel Stacy comes to check out the Avonlea school house to teach their again as she did when Anne Shirley was a child. Hetty feels threatened and goes in search of new students. Gus Pike is enthusiastic about learning how to read and write and Hetty takes him under her wing. After an accident at home, Muriel ends up replacing Hetty as the school teacher. In a tribute to Hetty, Muriel organizes a "tribute" to Hetty with Gus playing a fiddle solo.
OF CORSETS, SECRETS AND TRUE, TRUE LOVE
Two orphans, Davey and Dora Keith, are sent to live with Marilla until their other relatives can take them in. The two children prove to be a handful for Marilla and Rachel Lynde. The relatives decide that they don't want the two children and Marilla has to decide if its more important to keep the children or keep her friendship with Rachel who can't stand the kids. In the end Marilla does both.
SARA'S HOMECOMING
Sara goes to live in Montreal with her father. However, he is killed in a tragic accident at one of his companies. Sara returns to Avonlea and is in despair. She goes to a travelling circus with Peter and asks the fortune teller questions about her father. The fortune teller and her accomplice kidnap Sara and Alec comes and rescues her.
OLD QUARRELS, OLD LOVES
Hetty runs into a former beau named Romney Penhallow at a wedding and refuses to speak to him despite all his attempts at conversation. In the end they become friends.
MAY THE BEST MAN WIN
An old beau of Olivia's, which Hetty had chased away a long time ago, returns to Avonlea, very wealthy. Hetty encourages Olivia to see him again. Sara, on the other hand would prefer to see her aunt with Jasper Dale. She encourages to court Olivia. Olivia makes her decision when she finds out how the men react when a small boy falls down a well.
SEA GHOST
Ezekial Crane offers Gus a job and a place to live. The children see a Sea Ghost near the lighthouse which ends up being a person named Abe Pike who claims that Gus is his son. Ezekial fights Abe over Gus and Abe falls into the ocean.
ALL THAT GLITTERS
Captain Crane tells Sara that the island is full of pirates treasure. Rachel, Janet and Hetty set off to find some. A man named Captain Borden arrives and believes that Captain Crane knows where the Spanish treasure is. Gus, Sara and Felicity are put into danger.
Captain Crane leaves the island and leaves the lighthouse, a ruby and a gold ring to Gus.
DREAMER OF DREAMS
The King children decide to create their own fictional newspaper complete with an advice column. The advice column gets mixed in with Olivia's things for the real newspaper and Olivia must defend herself for the mistake. The newspaper office is robbed and Jasper comes to Olivia's rescue.
IT'S JUST A STAGE
Sara's cousin, Pigeon Plumtree is a famous actress. Pat Frewn falls in love with her much to the despair of Dorathea who has waited for years for Pat to ask her to marry him. Sara ends up making amends with all.
A MOTHER'S LOVE
Sara enters Hetty in a contest called "A Mother's Love". Felicity and Sally Potts tell Sara that Hetty can't be entered because only a "real" mother can be entered. Sara tells Felicity and Sally that they were switched at birth because they have the same birthdate. Their mothers tell them that it is the person who raises the child that is the mother not the person who gives birth to the child. Felicity enters Sara's discarded essay and Hetty wins the contest.
MISFITS AND MIRACLES
Archie Gillis refuses to let Alec on his ice hockey team along with a group of others. As a retaliation Alec starts his own team of "misfits". When Alec sprains his back, Muriel Stacy and Peg Bowen and the Misfits help defeat Archie and his Avengers. Janet's baby prematurely and Sara helps her after Felicity passes out.
SEASON 3
THE TIES THAT BIND
Everything goes wrong for Jasper and Olivia's wedding. Hetty takes over the planning and makes it a huge ceremony rather than an intimate one causing Jasper to want to elope. Janet has to do all of the work, the wedding ring gets lost, the dress arrives way to big for Olivia, and Hetty and Olivia won't speak to each other.
WHEN SHE WAS BAD, SHE WAS HORRID PART I
Sara is growing up, growing pains and everything. She meets her look-alike named Jo Pitts and switches places with her with Felix's help. Gus goes to Halifax to find Captain Crane and takes Sara with him. When Gus gets their he is captured by Abe Pike and theives capture Sara whom they believe is Jo...
WHEN SHE WAS BAD, SHE WAS HORRID PART II
In Avonlea, Jo is driving Hetty crazy and Hetty who believes Jo is Sara thinks that Sara is deranged. Jo tries to drown Hetty and rob the town. Fortunately, Sara and Gus escape and sail home in time to stop Jo from her misdeeds. Jo leaves town.
FELIX AND BLACKIE
Alec buys and new horse and wants to sell the old one, Blackie. To pay for Blackie's feed Felix starts a delivery service with Sara's help. The business men in the community make fun of Felix and a tragedy is caused.
AUNT JANET REBELS
Janet decides to get a petition going so that women can vote. Unfortunately, this not only causes problems at home but problems at the cannery when she tries to get the workers higher wages and she eventually winds up in jail. Alec takes Janet's petition and convinces many people in town to sign it and the cannery workers are given a raise.
ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW
Hetty quits her position on the school board when Alec joins. Hetty is replaced by Alistair Dimple, an actor pretending to be a teacher. Alistair gets the children to learn by doing role playing. Hetty in the meantime writes a book about the island. Alec finds out Alistair's true identity right before the History Championship against Carmody and doesn't say anything.
A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT
Amanda Stone has become the object of Gus's affection, unfortunately for Felicity. Robert Rutherford comes to town and says that the gems Amanda left in safe keeping have been stolen, calling her a thief. Gus doesn't believe that Amanda is a thief. Everyone in town hears about Gus's own gems and treat him differently. However, Gus and Felicity are sent to jail together and Gus wants to find out the truth.
VOWS OF SILENCE
A new minister comes to town and gives a sermon which makes the children believe that the world is coming to an end. The children rush off to the light house to confess their sins so that the world will be saved. An eclipse makes them believe that the end is near. Fortunately, they find out that it is not.
FRIENDS AND RELATIONS
The women decide to spend the day at the auction while the men go ice fishing. The women, of course, end up not speaking to each other by the end of the day. The men deal with Felix's questions about "life" and Gus tells Jasper about his feelings for Felicity. The women think that Lucky (the dog) is lost in the snow storm and go in search for him, then the men go in search of the women and everyone meets up in the woods.
AFTER THE HONEYMOON
A woman scientist, Sydney Carver, comes to help Jasper with his study of bats and develops a crush on him. In an effort to get Jasper's attention back, Olivia takes science lessons from Hetty. Jasper loves Olivia for who she is and Sydney leaves town.
HIGH SOCIETY
Felicity goes to a ladies college because of her excellent academic skills. When their, however, she is intimidated by how worldy the other girls are and pretends to be Sara's rich sister. She ends up admitting to her parents that she lied and learns a lesson in humility. Gus, in the meantime, believes he is losing Felicity and wants to get some good manners. Sara and Pierre further Gus's education by helping him.
THE CALAMITOUS COURTSHIP OF HETTY KING
Wally Higgins has his eyes on Hetty and Wellinton Campbell has his eyes on the King family property. Hetty has to fight to keep her freedom and land. Felicity wants Gus to take her to the skating party but he has no skates. After Sara gives him a pair he admits that he doesn't know how to skate.
OLD FRIENDS, OLD WOUNDS
Marilla Cuthbert suddenly dies and has no will so Gilbert Blythe tries to buy Green Gables for Anne. Unfortunately, on of the neighbors has already bought it leaving Rachel and Davey and Dora no place to live. The new owner hates Rachel and Rachel is forced to be nice.
SEASON 4
TUG OF WAR
Jasper's Bohemian family comes to town to see the birth of his and Olivia's first child. They don't get along well with the King's traditional lifestyle. Jasper saves the day by bringing Montgomery King Dale into the world.
THE LADY AND THE BLADE
Hetty plans to help Olivia with Montgomery until Olivia sends Hetty's romance novel to a publisher. Hetty also has something in common with the new school master, Clive Pettibone, they are both quite creative. They also hate each other, until they share their secrets.
INCIDENT AT VERNON RIVER
When Felix doesn't get a gun for his birthday he borrows his father's and accidently shoots digger. Gus and Felix take digger to a veteranarian in training, Arthur Pettibone, and Arthur treats Digger. However, Arthur only does it to get Felicity's attention and Gus becomes worried about his competetion for Felicity's love.
MOVING ON
Sara falls in love with Zak Morgon who belongs to a "Wild, Wild West Show" that comes to town. To impress him she rodeo rides. She convinces Zak to let her join his show but when it is time to leave town she gets left in the dust.
BOYS WILL BE BOYS
Alec and Clive are up for town fire chief, when the town gets a volunteer fire department. The department is extremely disorganized. Felix messes up his science experiment at school and the fire department keeps the school from burning down.
EVELYN
Emmett, Alec's friend, asks him for help because his farm has done poorly. Alec doesn't help him so Emmett goes fishing for food. The ship Emmett is on sinks and he dies. Alec feels guilty and tries to run Emmett's farm as well as his own. Evelyn, Emmett's widow, causes problems between Alec and Janet.
THE DINNER
Felicity manages to empty her house so that she and Gus can have dinner together, and alone. Unfortunately, Janet and Alec come home in the middle of it all and send Gus away. Later, Gus asks Alec is he can see Felicity openly and Alec says yes.
HEIRS AND GRACES
Gus helps Felix get a job at the White Sands Hotel. Felix jobs ends up being that of the assistant to the new owner. Simon Tremayne once worked for royalty as Felix has discovered. Unfortunately, Felix's job goes to his head and he and Gus have a fight. Hetty tries to get a visiting Duke (the one Simon worked for) to come to the Founder's Day Banquet.
HEARTS AND FLOWERS
Simon Tremayne asks Hetty to help him out with the Hotel by being a silent partner. Hetty decides she wants to hold a Valentine's day dance. However, the hotel is almost closed down when a health inspector finds a very old dead bird in the ice house. In the meantime, Arthur is eager to dance with Felicity who is going to the dance with Gus. Suzette, Chief Pierre's neice has her eyes on Gus.
FELICITY'S PERFECT BEAU
Felicity plays it up by having both Arthur and Gus like her, Sara tries to make Felicity "see the light" about what is going on. Gus and Arthur have a fight in the barn and Gus proposes to Felicity. In the meantime, Arthur is goes calling on Felicity and Felicity must choose which of the men she loves.
THE DISAPEARANCE
Sara tries to get a job with the newspaper and stumbles onto the disappearance of an heir. This heir's aunt thinks that Gus is responsible for the boy's disappearance and Gus is thrown in jail. Sara of course, solves the mystery and writes an excellent article for the paper.
JASPER'S HOME MOVIES
Sara has a camera delivered to Jasper to be tested for the Thomas Edison Company. Jasper makes some home movies. An industrialist comes to town and tries to buy Avonlea. Hetty uses Jasper's home movies to try to convince the town to leave it the way it is.
HEARTH AND HOME
Sara and Felix find a science project for school at in Jasper's room. Meanwhile, Aunt Eliza comes to visit in the middle of lambing season, and cold weather. Janet and Alec are not impressed that she is there and Aunt Eliza runs away. Sara and Felix's project help warm up Aunt Eliza, the barn and the lambs.
